Lost – Motivation. If found, please return to….
Howdy,
I hope everyone is OK.
I’ve not checked in for ages. I’ve not actually done much writing over the last couple of weeks. I seem to have lost all motivation. However, I want to change all that.
Taking up my own advice, I am going to slightly adjust my goals and make my daily word count 150 words and then see how I go.
I’ve managed 186 words today so it’s so far so good.
I’ve realised that I’ve only got about sixteen weeks before my book is due into the RNA so I am beginning to go into action stations (if only in my head and not where my confidence is concerned and boy am I having a crisis in confidence.)
To end on a good note, I, with ten minutes to go, finished Script Frenzy.
Missing – one big massive portion of motivation.
Hello all,
How is everyone doing?
I’ve been so slack in my checking in for ROW 80 over the past week or so. I’ve been lacking motivation. I was doing so well up until about 12th April on both my WIP and Script Frenzy and then it all seemed to grind to a halt but, despite it being a day late, I can’t go another check in without checking in so here I am..
WIP Goals.
OK, this hasn’t happened much until Tuesday. I managed to reach my 500 word goal then and I also managed a 500 word count yesterday. Today, I’ve done a whopping 1,164 and feel better but I’ve still got a way to go to catch up with the days I missed completely.
My goals for the next few days:
20th April – 500
21st April – 1,000
22nd April – 500.
I have a wedding this weekend so I’ll have to see how I go. Wish me luck.
Not as much a frenzy, more like a feeble trickle. I’m on 53 pages which is not as far as I’d like at this stage of the month. I am finding it challenging and so different to NANO.
My goal is to continue to try and do at least a page a day and hopefully more if I get into the groove.
Blog commenting.
I must admit I am so slack on this and I really do apologise. Sometimes I go to post and my WordPress log in won’t work, making it more difficult. I’m hoping to make at least 5 comments on check in days (at the least) and then when I can on other days. I’m also slack on commenting on my own blog’s comments from you lovely vistiors; something else I am going to aim to improve.
Other stuff:
I was really pleased on 12th April to go up to London and go see a play (especially in the middle of Script Frenzy.)
I went to go and see ‘All New People‘ which is the play by Zach Braff. I loved him in Scrubs and Garden State is one of my favourite movies. I really recommend this play (especially if you liked Garden State.) It’s running until the end of April in the West End so not long but there’s still time.
I also got to get something signed by the lovely Zach as well as get a photo. What an ace guy.
Novel Kicks is also having a busy April.
Our Writing Room is still going where you describe the image below. If you fancy taking part and are already a member, click here. If you’d like to sign up, click here.
Our book club is discussing Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin. To take part or find out more, click here.
We’re also now on Google +
There’s also a competition running on our Facebook page too. Win a copy of the really cute ‘Stay Golden Journal.’ (Chronicle Books, 2012.)
I’ve always kept a diary and I love this little journal. Check our competition out.
See you Sunday all.
Wednesday 11th April Check In.
Hello all,
A quick check in this week.
I managed my goals. It was a real struggle this week. I came off nights and just really wasn’t in the mood but I did it.
Script frenzy is also ok. I’m half way through.
I went to see Titanic 3D tonight. I had forgotten how long that film is but I found myself really studying the script.
Hope everyone had a good week.
Laura.
ROW 80 Sunday Check In – April 8th.
Firstly, Happy Easter everyone.
How’s everyone’s week been?
It’s not been a bad week for me. I’ve managed to reach all of my goals.
WIP:
My goals for last few days have been 500 words. I’ve exceeded this every day which I am very pleased about.
I’m currently at 43 pages which isn’t bad considering it’s only the 8th April. I also changed my idea mid week too after writing 18 pages. Yes, I know. Crazy.
My goals for the next three days.
WIP.
My word count targets are:
Monday 9th – 500
Tuesday 10th – 500
Wednesday 11th – 1,000.
Script Frenzy.
I’d like get half way through by Wednesday if I can. Will wait and see how I go.
Reading Challenge/Review pile – yes, this is still a mess. I’ve been on the same book for a few weeks and just not feeling it but am also stubborn and not ready to abandon it yet. I’m hoping i will get a second wind with it.
Have a good week everyone.
Check in – So far so good.
Hello all,
ROW80 Wednesday 4th April Check in.
I hope everyone has had a good week.
I have had a good start, helped by ROW buddy Helen.
My WIP- I managed all my goals for this. 725 words on Monday, 1071 for Tuesday and 614 for Wednesday. I added a star each day to my calendar. Gold for WIP and blue for Script Frenzy,
Script Frenzy – I had managed 18 pages and then I decided today to change my story. I got back up to 20 pages and so pleased.
Not managed much on the reading front but hoping to improve.
How is everyone else doing?
Xx
ROW 80 – Round 2. April 2012.
Wow, round two already.
I can’t wait to get going on another round as I really need to get my WIP beyond the first few chapters, which I guess brings me to my goals.
This hasn’t really changed since round one: 500 or 1,000 depending on the day but I want to make a note of each day’s goal on each blog check in so I can keep an eye on my progress better. I’ve lowered the total word count from 50,000 to 40,000 (as this was a real struggle last round.) I need to get my WIP in to the RNA by the end of August so I really need to get writing and disable the delete key. It’s my nemesis.
April 2nd: 500 words
April 3rd: 1,000 words.
April 4th: 500 words.
I have an August deadline so naturally I have signed up to Script Frenzy 2012. I have never written a script in my life but I thought I would give it a go. It’s 100 pages in 30 days. I’ve had an idea floating around that I feel would work better as a script rather than a novel so here I am. Anyone else doing it? My username is Laura Parish. (I know, original.)
My aim is to do a page a day (min.) on top of the word count for the WIP. Ambitious but I can always reevaluate if it’s too much.
Excited to also hopefully be facing another round with my writing buddy Helen. (We can do it.)
Goodreads Challenge: I hope to take my total from two books up to seven. I have a couple of books to mark as read already as I’ve not updated for a while so will see how I go.
Novel Kicks is also facing a new month which means a new book cub title and writing room exercise. The book club is looking at ‘Something Borrowed’ by Emily Giffin.
The writing room exercise is called ‘Image.’
It’s writing about this picture. I think it’s quite a good exercise if anyone fancies a go.
It’s great to be back everyone. Here’s to round two.
ROW 80 2012 – Round 1 final check in.
I don’t have much to say except at 23.56, I DID IT. I reached my goal of 50,000 for Round One. I could not have done this without the ROW 80 community and my writing buddy Helen, so thank you all. Bring on Round 2.
Wow, last Sunday check in for Round 1, 2012.
Hello all,
I can’t believe we only have one more check in before we finish Round 1. Where the hell did that time go?
I’ve still got a little way to go until I reach my 50,000 goal and am not sure at the moment whether I am going to do it.
I’ve mostly slammed my goals this week with the exception of Thursday. The goal was 1,000 words and I only managed 252. Ooops. However, I made up for it over the weekend. I just hope it’s enough to reach that 50,000 on time.
How’s everyone else doing? Good luck in our last Round 1 week.
xx
Wednesday Check-in. What a difference a day makes.
Hello all.
I’m technically a little late checking in but I’ve not been to bed yet so I’m still on Wednesday (that’s my excuse and I am sticking to it. Haha.)
This week has been a mixed bag.
As you can see, Monday was OK. I managed to get just over my 500 word target. Tuesday however, was horrible. It took me about four hours to get to 281 words of my 1,000 target before I finally gave up and went to bed, feeling a little sorry for myself.
However, my word count for today was 500. I’ve got into the groove as I’ve managed 1,351, making up for the lack of words yesterday so feeling a lot happier.
As we’re coming in on the last week of round one, I thought I would take a look at the overall progress. Not as much as I’d like at this stage but there is still time. I just need to get my bum in chair and fingers on the keyboard. Hmm, it’s always easier to say.
I’m working on my prologue for my WIP. What are people’s general opinion on prologues? Like or dislike?
I’m also trying to decide whether to edit as I go along or to get the thing drafted and then edit. Decisions decisions.
What are everyone’s thoughts on editing as you go?
Have a good week all.
xx
